Additional Access to University study options now available at SGS College
SGS College has expanded its range of Access courses and now offers adults pathways to develop and enhance their skills in nursing, midwifery, social work, law, business, criminology, sport, land based studies, animal management and the creative arts.
Those interested can attend an advice evening taking place at the College’s Filton and Stroud campuses, Thursday 21 May, 6-8pm, where they can discover what’s on offer as well as meet with tutors, careers advisers and current students.
Access courses provide people with a chance to study and learn alongside likeminded adults. These courses prepare students with the necessary skills, knowledge and confidence required to progress to Higher Education and University level studies.
Students often have to juggle busy home and family lives and the access course provides excellent levels of support to ensure they can succeed. The course is typically delivered over four days and has been carefully designed to fit around the school day.
Students also have easy access to finance through the 24+ loan scheme, along with other payment options, which helps learners pay for their Access course. As an added helping hand the loan amount will be written off if a student successfully completes a Higher Education qualification.
Vice Principal and Deputy Chief, Sara-Jane Watkins, comments: “If you would like to progress in Higher Education but do not have the qualifications you need, then an Access course could be for you.
“Access attracts a diverse range of students, and there's no upper-age limit.
“You’ll receive excellent support from our dedicated tutors, who are specialists in their field, and a valuable qualification upon completion which allows progression to study a University level qualification.”
