A Level results 2018

Few events in the college calendar create as much buzz as A Level results day, and this year was no exception at SGS College’s A Level Campus, which was filled with happy, smiling students.

As in previous years, the College’s A-Level students achieved excellent grades. Over 67% of A2 students achieved grades A* - C grades, with excellent performance seen in many subject areas. 12% of students achieved either A* and A.

Callum Fitzgerald was ecstatic to receive his results, achieving A-level A grades in maths, physics and economics and an A in AS level further maths. Callum is now one step closer to achieving his dream of becoming an investment banker.

“I’ve always wanted to go to one of the UK’s top universities as I want to become an investment banker.

“When I was younger my brother gave me a book, the undercover economist, and it really spoke to me. I've always loved maths so working in finance seemed like the perfect fit.

“teaching at SGS has been really good. They really cared and supported us.

“I feel so relieved. I couldn't sleep last night. It's great that I can now stop worrying. Really happy with my results.”

Callum will now continue his journey at Nottingham University.

Student Elliott Burgess moved house just before starting his A Levels. Although he was nervous about starting at a new school he quickly felt at home at SGS.

“I moved to Bristol just before starting A Levels so I didn’t know anybody. I chose to study at SGS because it was highly recommended to me and to my surprise I quickly made loads of friends.

“All my teachers have been there for me. Especially my maths teachers. Their teaching style and support was amazing. It definitely works! It makes for a great atmosphere to work in.

“Even though I would have loved to get an A in chemistry I wasn't expecting an A in physics so I’m still very happy.”

Elliott achieved an A* in maths, A in physics, B in chemistry and an A in AS level further maths, securing his place at Southampton University.

Football star Aimee Palmer, achieved grades A in psychology, B in biology and C chemistry. Aimee is now heading off to the University of Salford.

“I felt nervous this morning but I'm really happy now I’ve got my results.

“Before visiting SGS I always had the dream of training as a professional whilst being able to take part in A level study. SGS enabled my dreams to come true, gaining a valuable education whilst excelling in my sport at the same time.”
