Rugby Academy students join Bristol Bears

A trio of talented SGS rugby academy players have been selected to join Bristol Bears Integrated Academy ahead of the 2019/20 season.

Students, George Kloska, Blake Boyland and Jack Bates have featured for Bristol Bears ‘A’ in the Gallagher Premiership Shield this season, with Blake and Jack also representing England U18 in the past 12 months and Jack also selected in the recently named England squad to play in the Easter u18's Six Nations Festival.

Head Coach of the rugby academy at SGS, Saul Nelson said:

“These young men are three very talented rugby players. They have been a pleasure to coach and learn from since their first day at SGS College.  They are three great characters and I look forward to watching their careers take off for Bristol Bears like so many others that have come through SGS College before them.”

Bristol Bears Academy manager Mike Hall said:

“This is a fantastic opportunity for all three of these players and we’re delighted they are joining the Integrated Academy.”

Speaking about their experience at SGS Blake said:

“I decided to study at SGS because of the stellar reputation of the rugby academy and the fact I could combine training with the course I wanted to study. The facilities are really good, the coaching is great and they offer students a lot of support to reach their potential. My time at SGS has really set me up to do what I really want to do, which is play rugby."

Jack added:

“I didn't want to go to sixth form as I preferred the freedom and respect you get from both the staff and students at SGS. The standards are high and I've improved a lot. If you put in the work you are rewarded. Everyone's very supportive which helps. You also benefit from having options how to spend your spare time, like studying in the LRC or training in the gym.”
